Peter Molyneux’s The Trail now out on Android

If you’re a gaming enthusiast, you might be familiar with Peter Molyneux – the brilliant mind behind such games as Fable, Theme Park, Dungeon Keeper, and more recently the mobile game Godus. He has a new game and it’s called “The Trail,” and you Android gamers can now download it via the Google Play Store.

If we told you that The Trail would be a game about walking from point A to point B, you might be forgiven in thinking this would be a boring game. In truth, it is more relaxing than anything else. You begin the game playing what is in all probability a homeless person. This is visualized by your character’s shabby clothing – you have no shoes, and you only have a small backpack to call your own. But the game will show you that it’s not really about the destination – it’s the journey.

As you play the game more and more, your character will learn to craft gear or get resources to buy new gear. These upgrades make it easier to walk from one place to another. Along the way, you interact with a vibrant set of characters within the game, making your walk that much more interesting and fun. Did we tell you about the vistas? The artwork and environments shown as your character walks along is worthy of a second and third look, although it would have been nice to have the game in landscape setting than in portrait – if only to appreciate the visuals more.

The Trail is available via the Play Store as free to download, with the requisite in-app purchases. I have a feeling I’ll enjoy this game a lot. Maybe you’d want to try it as well.
