A new Xiaomi smartphone will be announced soon. After the Mi 5S and Mi 5S Plus’ launch in China, a new all-metal device will enter the Chinese mobile market based on some early sightings. Rumor has it that it’s the upcoming Mi 5c. Images have surfaced online which could only mean that the unit is being tested and is almost ready for commercial release.
This phone could also be a new Redmi model after the Redmi S3 was released in India. Actually, it looks more like a Redmi than another Mi phone because of the placement of the rear camera. At the front is a 2.5D glass with a fingerprint groove which we’re guessing is also for the ultrasonic fingerprint scanner.
The black panel features a dual tone black coating with the lower part having a darker shade which we believe is the antenna. There’s also the camera and LED flash at the back. Based on one of the photos showing the about phone section, the device will have 64GB of onboard storage, 3GB RAM, 2.2GHz octa-core processor, Android Marshmallow 6.0, MIUI 8, and VoLTE support. This could be a prototype but the December 2015 security patch is very old.
These images below were published on Weibo. We’re looking forward to confirmation or better yet the official announcement. As for the pricing, this Xiaomi device could be anything below 1999 Yuan or $300 which is the usual price point of smartphones powered by a Snapdragon 821 processor.
